Can I use Tubly Downloader Pro on multiple devices?

Yes! Your Pro subscription works seamlessly across unlimited devices and supported browsers. To keep your account secure, one active signed-in session is supported at a time.

How do I update the Chrome extension?

To update the Chrome extension:

  1. Download the latest version from our website.
  2. Follow the standard installation guide.
(You don't need to uninstall the old version, as the new one will replace it automatically.)

For Edge and Firefox, the extension updates automatically. No action needed.

Why does my downloaded video have only video or only audio? How can I fix it?

Tubly Downloader downloads both video and audio tracks when you choose a video quality (not audio-only). It preserves the original encoding without performing any conversions (transcoding).

If you're experiencing issues like no video or no audio during playback, your media player may not support the file's audio or video format. For example:

  • Windows Media Player doesn't support OPUS audio.
  • macOS QuickTime Player doesn't support VP9 video.

We recommend using VLC media player (which is free and open source), or simply playing the video in your web browser.

Tip:

You can identify the file's audio and video formats from the filename:

  • vp9-mp4a.mp4 → VP9 video + MP4A audio
  • avc1-opus.mp4 → AVC1 video + OPUS audio
How do I download a playlist?

You can download videos from a playlist one by one.

  1. Go to the playlist page on YouTube.
  2. Click "Play All" – this takes you to the video watch page (URL format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID).
  3. On the watch page, you'll see the blue Download button below the video player.
How can I download live videos?

You can download YouTube live streams after the broadcast ends. Once the live session concludes and YouTube finishes processing the video, it becomes available for download with Tubly Downloader.

To download a completed live stream:

  • Make sure you're on a watch page with a URL like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID
    (or https://www.youtube.com/live/VIDEO_ID)
  • Wait a few hours after the live ends, as YouTube may take time to process all formats.
Why do I see "Invalid URL" when I hover over the Download button?

This usually means you're not on a supported video watch page. Make sure the URL is in this format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID

How do I fix the 1751(403) error?

Please upgrade to version 1.5.2 or later. You can check your current version on the Settings page by clicking the extension icon.

Error 1751(403) can sometimes happen when YouTube blocks the extension's default download method. As a temporary workaround, close the error message and hover over the blue Download button again. This will trigger a second attempt automatically. Once the list of quality options refresh, try downloading again. This works in most cases.

"Not enough storage space" error (Firefox or Brave)

The downloader requires at least twice the video file size in available storage on the drive where the browser is installed. Firefox and Brave enforce strict limits on how much storage extensions can use:

  • Firefox: up to 10 GB
  • Brave: up to 2 GB

If a video exceeds these limits, the download may fail.

Recommendation:

We are actively working on a solution to overcome these limitations. For now, we recommend using Chrome or Edge for large downloads when possible. These browsers have more relaxed extension storage limits and support a Save as option (available from the three-dot menu next to the blue Download button), which saves files directly to disk and bypasses browser storage restrictions.

The blue Download button doesn't appear, or I see Error Code 4 or 35 (Firefox only)

This issue is usually caused by missing website permissions in Firefox. The extension requires access to certain websites to retrieve and download videos. In some cases, Firefox does not automatically grant these permissions after installation or may revoke them after an update.

To fix this:

  1. Right-click the extension icon in the browser toolbar and select Manage Extension.
  2. This will open the about:addons page.
  3. Under Permissions and data tab, ensure all listed website access permissions are enabled (as shown in the screenshot below).
  4. The Access your data for all websites permission is optional and can remain disabled.

What is Error Code 4 or 60?

Error Code 4 or 60 may occur when YouTube restricts access based on your IP address. This is often related to VPN usage or public/shared networks.

What you can try:

  • If you are using a VPN, turn it off and try again.
  • If you are not using a VPN, try enabling one and switching to a different IP address.

In many cases, changing your IP resolves the issue.

What is Error Code 34?

Error Code 34 usually means that cached data used by the extension has expired.

Try the following steps:

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of the extension.
  • Disable the extension, then re-enable it from chrome://extensions to clear cached data.
  • Sign out of your account within the extension, then sign back in.
  • If the issue persists, reinstall the extension.
  • In rare cases, this error may occur if your system clock is out of sync. Please ensure your device is set to automatically sync with internet time servers.
What is Error Code 56?

Error Code 56 means your computer's clock might be out of sync with our server. This can sometimes prevent the extension from working properly.

To fix this, we recommend enabling automatic time synchronization with an internet time server in your system settings.
